Hind Brain
  • its controls our basics biological structures
Parts of the brain
  • Medulla - located just above the spinal cord, it is involved in the control of breathing, heart rate and blood pressure
  • Pons - located just above medulla, its connects the hind brain and the fore brain, it is involved in facial expression
Mid Brain
  • coordinates simple movement with sensory information
  • the most important structure in the mind brain is known as the reticular. control arouse and the ability to focus our attention
Fore brain
  • it is what makes us human, longest part of the brain, it is made up of the thalamus, limbic system
cereal cortex
  • thalamus- switch broad of the brain, it receives sensory signals from the spinal cord and sends them to other parts of the brain and sends them to others parts of the forebrain, every sent except smell.
Limbic System
  • 4 parts include the thalamus, pituarity gland, amygdala, Hippocampus
  • thalamus - most important structure of the brain, its control and regulates body temperature, sexual arouse, hunger, thirst and endocrine system.
  • hippocampus- it is involved in the process in the storage of memories
  • amygdala- it is involved in how we process memory and also deals with emotions as well

Parietal lobes

  • Contains sensory cortex. Receives incoming touch sensations from the rest of the body
Association areas

  • Any area not associated with receiving sensory information or coordinating muscle movements.
Occipital lobe

  • deals with vision
  • Contain visual cortex, interprets messages from our eyes into images we understand.
Temporal lobe

  • Sound that is processed through the ears.
  • Also had a cortex called auditory
  • Also has an area called Wenike’s area which interprets written and spoken speech
  • And it’s is not spilt into 2, not lateralized to be exact
  • The wernike aphasia is unable to understand the language the syntax and grammar jumbled.

Brain plasticity

The idea that the brain, when damage, will attempt to find news ways to reroute message.
  • Children brains are more plastic than adults.
The corpus callosum

  • A tick bundle of nerves
